Leave a CommentThe gOS provides easy access to Google services such as YouTube, Google Product Search, Google Calendar, and Google Maps. Also a click away are other web services such as Wikipedia and Facebook.
This isn’t a pure Internet desktop but Xine, Skype, OpenOffice.org, and other applications are available for this Linux LiveCD. This would be perfect for Internet cafes and other public places.

Jaiku is joining Google!

Google now is really a concern on security and privacy issues for its users. Earlier Google bought the No.1 video broadcasting website Youtube , tonic systems regarding presentation sharing and collaboration capabilities to Google Docs & Spreadsheets and now Jaiku which is an activity stream and presence sharing service that works from the Web and mobile phone has been acquired by Google!
I wonder if the Big Brother company wants to see its official logo on every popular web service as an official partner.

Done reading with the Dan Brown trio ‘ digital fortress’ , ‘ angels & demons’ and ‘ deception point’. All the three books are breathless thrillers and are planned strategically with suspense!

with the commander!
After we ( sandeep & me) missed a pat in the back by the chief guest for cynosure 2007 ‘Commander Shekhar Murthy ‘ who is from ‘Satyam computers‘ , we got a chance to him personally.
I called him to take an appointment. To our surprise we were to meet him at his house. We were a bit nervous initially but as we entered the hall we were confident. We spoke to him for about 40 minutes. He briefed us on,
* what a software engineer does in an IT company?
* What are the different teams involved in a software company?
* client servicing , development , maintenance , testing and other teams.
* The present scenario of IT companies
*The sectors in which IT is developing at a faster pace!
and from countries most of the projects are coming etc.
* Business verses job satisfaction , research labs.
* Meeting deadlines, tickets, ERP’s …
After the talk we were before his Desktop computer. He saw the website we made http://cynosure2k7.org
He checked almost every hyperlink in the website and gave a 5 rating on scale of 10. He suggested a more professional look and he also mentioned a few spelling errors on the website. He was pleased with the total outlook of the website.
I personally learned a LOT from this meeting and it was really a fabulous experience for an aspirant like me. It helped me in realizing what a s/w engineer really does in a IT company and the scenarios in present IT sector , the difference in job satisfaction and making business and the different teams in an IT company and lot more valued information.
It was an eye opening experience with the commander ! and I can never forget those moments which will surely stand to be a stepping stone in my career
a pat in the back
Working as a part of the Cynosure 2K7 web team was an interesting experience. The website had a blog to share interesting news and articles , a help desk to answer participant queries and a well maintained website with frequent updates. The help desk provided a way of clarification of all the uncertainties and corrections. The reply to any problem was answered within an hour.
One of the dignitaries said the designers deserves themselves a pat in the back. He called for the web team and un-luckily we were not present in the college at that time
though luck!

Day2 @ shaastra
Got used to the IIT keywords ob. , proper, peace , lite max , fundae ,LoL etc. We spent the day assembling the bot for a few hours and we had a happy meal at Himalaya canteen @ IITM.
Students from various colleges from different cities have turned up for this electrifying event. Students were very impressed by the way this event is organized from hospitality to events co ordination and website.
As all systems here are connected in LAN we can download all kinds of files from other systems using s/w’s like strongDC . The download speed is like in 30sec’s one can download 700mb file . I saw 4 to 5 movies at a stretch. Everything is rocking here!

Entered the sultry city of Chennai for the magnanimus & the Electrifying event shaastra 2007
The Train was hecktic & boring a bit and it droped by late at the Chennai Central but the cool weather was a bit of relief for us!
I took a few snaps of the marina beach , the railway station etc. on the way to IITM.
I had a taste of the delecious food served at the ” Himalaya Neelakanta ” and we were back to friend’s room at Tapti Hostel.
Hmm… trying to get used to the codes used by IIT’an janta like Lite maX , funda etc. The students here are pretty cool and everyone has his own style. Its pretty good that IIT faculty doesnt bother much about dreess code and Junkee…
Every guy has his nickname on his door printed in IIT hostels . These guys are crazy about T Shirts and they make cool designs which always rock!!

Bought a few CD’s at Minar @ IITM to dump good documentaries in my close pal’s PC & take them back home!
Sultry Evening
we started assembling the bot and the components are working fine at present . We Had the North Indian dishes at Minar @ IITM , food was good
The bot has come to a stage and a lot more to do , to get ready for the battle!!

Got selected!
I got selected to attend the FOSS i.e. Open Source workshop at Shaastra 2007.
I desperately wanted to attend that workshop & I am delighted that I have been selected for it.
